The Greencastle-Antrim Education Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was established in 1997 to encourage community involvement and investment in educational programs for the benefit of the Greencastle-Antrim community.
Increasingly, it has become apparent that relying on property taxes to fund educational programs puts at risk activities and educational programs that are integral to student learning. Activities such as music, theater, the science center at Tayamentasachta, and athletics are at risk on an annual basis in the budgeting process of the local school district. Our mission is to see that endowments are built so that the successful traditions that are an integral part of a Greencastle-Antrim diploma continue.
Whether it is the arts, or sciences, athletics or scholarships, teamwork or leadership, our foundation strives to provide the resources to bring out all the talent and capabilities of young people. In order to accomplish this we need help from the community and alumni of our school district.
For much of our history, the Greencastle-Antrim Education Foundation has awarded scholarships and mini-grants to graduates and organizations in excess of $100,000 and in addition the administration of fully endowed funds on behalf of individuals and families. These functions will obviously continue to be a part of our foundation.
However, it is the intent of the Board of Directors to focus more intentionally on building monies within the foundation endowments to help meet the needs of a “Children First” type of education that has been the credo of our school district and residents for nearly 25 years.
